Former Clinton pollster Doug Schoen told Fox News host John Roberts Thursday that he was unsure why he remains a Democrat after his party’s flawed resistance to the Trump administration following the president’s address to Congress.
Democrats remained seated and rarely applauded during President Donald Trump’s 99-minute address, even when Secret Service Director Sean Curran presented DJ Daniel, who is battling brain cancer, with credentials during the speech, receiving a hug from the 13-year-old Houston-area resident who has been sworn in as an honorary member of over 900 police departments. Fox News host John Roberts read from Schoen’s Wednesday op-ed in which the pollster said he had “increasing difficulty” remaining a Democrat before asking him why he was still with the party. “Well, it’s a good question, John. It remains one that is in active review. I can say I’m not a Republican,” Schoen said. “I disagree with many of the policies that President Trump so articulately outlined, and think he’s gone too far. But that being said, my party is not doing what Bill Clinton did when the Gingrich revolution came in 1994, which is to offer a set of alternatives that recognize the American people want border security, a reduction in inflation, tougher policies on crime, and immigration reform. Until we do that as a party, we Democrats remain irrelevant, sadly.”
Schoen also took aim at an 18-second video similar to the character selection screens of the “Street Fighter” video game franchise that influencer Sulhee Jessica Woo posted on Instagram Wednesday evening featuring Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Lauren Underwood of Illinois, Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, Judy Chu of California, Jasmine Crockett of Texas and Susie Lee of Nevada after Roberts played it and asked for his thoughts.
“I was going to say, very cringeworthy and completely irrelevant,” Schoen said. “I want alternative policies that recognize the way the American people feel and are more moderate than some of the Trump policies, not videos, not signs, not demonstrations, not protests, but policy articulation, which, John, has been absent and remains absent.”
Schoen also questioned if the Democrats even had a strategy to address their 2024 election loss.
“The answer is no one is,” Schoen said. “And if anyone knows who that person is, I would love to be introduced to them and to tell them that whatever strategy they think they are articulating is plain wrong. We are a rudderless party without leadership, without ideas, without policies and certainly without messages.”
“Somebody postulated that maybe it’s a Republican who is guiding them,” Roberts told Schoen as he broke into laughter.

Independent Journalism Is Dying
Ever since President Trump’s miraculous victory, we’ve heard an incessant drumbeat about how legacy media is dying. This is true. The people have awakened to the reality that they’re being lied to by the self-proclaimed “Arbiters of Truth” for the sake of political expediency, corporate self-protection, and globalist ambitions.
But even as independent journalism rises to fill the void left by legacy media, there is still a huge challenge. Those at the top of independent media like Joe Rogan, Dan Bongino, and Tucker Carlson are thriving and rightly so. They have earned their audience and the financial rewards that come from it. They’ve taken risks and worked hard to get to where they are.
For “the rest of us,” legacy media and their proxies are making it exceptionally difficult to survive, let alone thrive. They still have a stranglehold over the “fact checkers” who have a dramatic impact on readership and viewership. YouTube, Facebook, and Google still stifle us. The freer speech platforms like Rumble and 𝕏 can only reward so many of their popular content creators. For independent journalists on the outside looking in, our only recourse is to rely on affiliates and sponsors.
But even as it seems nearly impossible to make a living, there are blessings that should not be disregarded. By highlighting strong sponsors who share our America First worldview, we have been able to make lifelong connections and even a bit of revenue to help us along. This is why we enjoy symbiotic relationships with companies like MyPillow, Jase Medical, and Promised Grounds. We help them with our recommendations and they reward us with money when our audience buys from them.
The same can be said about our preparedness sponsor, Prepper All-Naturals. Their long-term storage beef has a 25-year shelf life and is made with one ingredient: All-American Beef.
Even our faith-driven precious metals sponsor helps us tremendously while also helping Americans protect their life’s savings. We are blessed to work with them.
Independent media is the future. In many ways, that future is already here. While the phrase, “the more the merrier,” does not apply to this business because there are still some bad actors in the independent media field, there are many great ones that do not get nearly enough attention. We hope to change that one content creator at a time.
Thank you and God Bless,
JD Rucker
