Are Christians who accept the concept of millions of years unknowingly supporting atheism? It’s a provocative question, and while it might make some uncomfortable, it’s worth exploring. Let’s take a closer look at where the idea of millions of years came from, how it became intertwined with Christianity, and why it matters so much today.
Where Did the Idea of Millions of Years Originate?
The concept of millions of years didn’t come from the Bible. It emerged in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, developed by individuals rejecting the authority of God’s Word. These were naturalists—those who believed in explaining everything by natural processes, excluding the supernatural. This worldview, known as naturalism, is at its core atheistic because it denies the existence of a personal Creator.
Naturalists during this period sought to explain phenomena like the fossil record without acknowledging events like Noah’s Flood. Observing slow processes, such as sediment accumulation on ocean floors and modern-day erosion, they concluded that the Earth’s layers must have taken millions of years to form. This assumption was rooted in the idea that “the present is the key to the past,” ignoring evidence for catastrophic events that could quickly form layers, such as localized floods.
How Did These Ideas Enter the Church?
Some Christian leaders, perhaps without fully understanding the implications, adopted the idea of millions of years and tried to reconcile it with Scripture. For instance, Thomas Chalmers, founder of the Free Church of Scotland, proposed the Gap Theory. This theory suggests a vast time gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, inserting millions of years into the biblical account of creation.
Later, as evolutionary theory gained traction, Christians began incorporating Darwin’s ideas into their theology. Theistic evolution—the belief that God guided evolutionary processes—became popular. Similarly, when the Big Bang theory emerged, some Christians added it to their understanding of Genesis. These attempts to merge secular ideas with Scripture gave rise to numerous interpretations: the Day-Age Theory, Progressive Creation, and the Framework Hypothesis, to name a few.
What do all these interpretations have in common? They integrate the concept of millions of years—derived from naturalism—into God’s Word. But by doing so, they inadvertently borrow from atheistic thought, diluting biblical authority.
Why This Undermines Biblical Authority
Adding man-made ideas to Scripture creates a dangerous precedent. Once you allow external concepts to reinterpret the Bible, where does it stop? If you insert millions of years into Genesis, why not also reinterpret biblical teachings about marriage, gender, or morality using modern cultural ideas?
This erosion of biblical authority is evident today. Many younger Christians now question foundational biblical teachings, influenced by a culture that elevates man’s ideas over God’s Word. Beliefs about creation, death, and sin are often reshaped to fit secular worldviews, opening the door to further compromise.
Theological Problems with Millions of Years
If Christians accept millions of years, they face significant theological challenges. The fossil record—often cited as evidence for an ancient Earth—shows signs of death, disease, violence, and suffering. But the Bible teaches that death entered creation as a result of sin. Before Adam’s sin, God declared creation “very good.” If the fossil record predates humanity, it suggests death and disease occurred before sin, undermining the gospel message.
The Bible clearly states that death is the penalty for sin and will one day be defeated. Accepting millions of years implies that death and suffering were part of God’s original creation, reducing the gravity of sin and distorting the nature of God’s justice and holiness.
Are Christians Helping Atheism?
Christians who accept millions of years may unintentionally support atheistic naturalism. By adopting ideas rooted in a worldview that excludes God, they validate atheistic interpretations of history and science. This only strengthens the claim that the Bible is unreliable, pushing more people—especially younger generations—away from faith.
In the Old Testament, Israelites often blended pagan beliefs with God’s commands, leading to spiritual destruction. Today, Christians risk making the same mistake by merging naturalistic ideas with Scripture. The consequences are just as serious: a compromised faith and a weakened witness to the truth of God’s Word.
What Does the Bible Say?
The Bible is unambiguous: God created the world in six days. Death, suffering, and disease entered the world through sin. By accepting these truths, Christians uphold the authority of God’s Word and proclaim the gospel message without compromise.
Conclusion
Christians need to consider the implications of accepting millions of years and evolutionary ideas. These beliefs don’t come from Scripture—they come from a worldview rooted in atheism. By integrating them into the Bible, we risk undermining the very foundation of our faith. God’s Word already provides all the answers we need. Let’s trust it from the very first verse.

Independent Journalism Is Dying
Ever since President Trump’s miraculous victory, we’ve heard an incessant drumbeat about how legacy media is dying. This is true. The people have awakened to the reality that they’re being lied to by the self-proclaimed “Arbiters of Truth” for the sake of political expediency, corporate self-protection, and globalist ambitions.
But even as independent journalism rises to fill the void left by legacy media, there is still a huge challenge. Those at the top of independent media like Joe Rogan, Dan Bongino, and Tucker Carlson are thriving and rightly so. They have earned their audience and the financial rewards that come from it. They’ve taken risks and worked hard to get to where they are.
For “the rest of us,” legacy media and their proxies are making it exceptionally difficult to survive, let alone thrive. They still have a stranglehold over the “fact checkers” who have a dramatic impact on readership and viewership. YouTube, Facebook, and Google still stifle us. The freer speech platforms like Rumble and 𝕏 can only reward so many of their popular content creators. For independent journalists on the outside looking in, our only recourse is to rely on affiliates and sponsors.
But even as it seems nearly impossible to make a living, there are blessings that should not be disregarded. By highlighting strong sponsors who share our America First worldview, we have been able to make lifelong connections and even a bit of revenue to help us along. This is why we enjoy symbiotic relationships with companies like MyPillow, Jase Medical, and Promised Grounds. We help them with our recommendations and they reward us with money when our audience buys from them.
The same can be said about our preparedness sponsor, Prepper All-Naturals. Their long-term storage beef has a 25-year shelf life and is made with one ingredient: All-American Beef.
Even our faith-driven precious metals sponsor helps us tremendously while also helping Americans protect their life’s savings. We are blessed to work with them.
Independent media is the future. In many ways, that future is already here. While the phrase, “the more the merrier,” does not apply to this business because there are still some bad actors in the independent media field, there are many great ones that do not get nearly enough attention. We hope to change that one content creator at a time.
Thank you and God Bless,

Pure poppycock. There is a universe and a time scale that is very apparent to anyone with a fundamental education in physics.
There are 5 main theories of the creation, one of which is fiat creationism that views the creation in six literal days some 6,000 or so years ago. The day/age theory of the creation views the days as periods of time because the word “day” in Hebrew “yom” is used figuratively for a period of time in many scriptures. Amazingly, the same order that animals first appear in Genesis is the same order we find in a biology book. And for those who say that God could not use evolution are putting God in a box, dictating what God can and cannot do, and reading a Bible chalked full of symbolisms too literally.
Publicly tying Christians to Atheists because they see plausible alternatives in the creation account does more harm than good. It can make the Bible sound like mythology to those who see the world is much older, harming the witness to those people. Even if young earth creationists were right, publicly pushing the young earth narrative without any mention of other viable answers is an anti-witness that to many makes God’s word sound like myth.
Absolutely ridiculous. Get thee behind me, Ham. You are concerned with the wrong things. Careful who you judge and on what grounds. How many times has Christendom been burned by confused zealots like you? How many of the faithful must pay the price for your own pride? You do not even know who wrote the 7-day creation narrative, much less how the narrative should be considered. It is far different than the rest of Genesis, as well as the rest of the Torah. And yes, I accept that all Scripture is God-breathed, and useful…, but the texts that are available to us are far from error free. Yes, there are errors within the text, sections that have altered and removed. It is also the opinion of many, if not most biblical scholars, that Genesis was written by multiple people. As for me, I do not believe that the cosmos was created by God in 6 24-hour days. Could He have achieved it. I have no doubt that He could have created everything in far less than one second and without needing to rest. And no, I do not accept that all of this took place a few thousand years ago. Most importantly, I do not agree with your notion that believers who do not accept a literal interpretation of the 6-day creation narrative are atheists. Whether or not, Ken Hamm is a wolf is just as valid a question for Christian leaders.
This fool teaches all kinds of false dogmas. I suggest ignoring him.
Point blank, any TRUE CHRISTIAN that has READ the Bible, knows that it’s not a science book. To use the Bible as a reference for the age of the Earth is a FOOL’S ERRAND, and only Zionist-corrupted evangelical morons teach such foolish and obviously false doctrines and dogmas.
There is one sentence in the entire Bible that summarizes what the ENTIRE BOOK is about: GENESIS 5:1. If you want to answer the question “What is the Bible about?” with a SINGLE VERSE, it is Genesis 5:1. THIS IS THE BOOK OF THE GENERATIONS OF ADAM. Generations is sometimes translated more properly as GENEALOGY.
It’s not a book about dinosaurs.
It’s not a book about quantum mechanics.
it’s not a book about the nature of time and space.
It’s not about physics or astronomy or astrophysics or astrology or even about making a good bowl of soup.
And it’s certainly not a book about the geological history of the Earth.
To use the Bible as a reference to prove ANYTHING about the age of the Earth, whether you’re a fool and believe it’s 6,000 some odd years because you’ve never really read the Bible for understanding, or if you quite properly believe that the Earth is 4.3 million years old, is a fool’s errand because neither viewpoint is proved one way or the other in the Bible. THAT’S NOT WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT.
IT IS ABOUT THE ADAMIC RACE. The Adamic race, which is roughly 6,000 years old, as created by Yahweh Elohim and his people (yes, he did not do it alone, it’s QUITE CLEAR on this), and which was put upon this Earth as HIS MOST PERFECT CREATION. The people who were Adamites, who became Hebrews and Israelites, BUT WHO WERE NOT JEWS. It’s also quite important not to repeat the evangelical / Zionist nonsense that the Bible is somehow about the “Jews”. It’s not. As in, CLEARLY it’s not. Despite what once again fools like this like to claim. Without a SINGLE SHRED of scriptural evidence to back up their wacky claims.
The truth is an eclectic mix, folks.
The Earth is a sphere. And is 4.3 billion years old.
It hangs in space and orbits the sun.
Interestingly enough, we are at the ACTUAL CENTER. This is actually true. We are indeed at the center of the universe, or very very close to it.
Evolution is 100% false, as least in the way we’re led to believe.
All races do NOT descend from Adam and Eve. Just to begin with, there were pre-Adamic people on the Earth, which was recovering from a previous disaster. That’s right, there are 2 large-scale disasters spoken of in scripture. The first is the pre-Genesis disaster (“…and the Earth had been lain to waste.” Is a MUCH more accurate translation than “…and the Earth was without form and void.”). Some survived, but not many. God came to repopulate the Earth with his most perfect creation, and IT WORKED. Thanks to the white race, we have a global civilization now that, if it wasn’t for Satan’s children’s influence, would be working pretty well.
There is so many lies you all believe. My people perish, but for LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. Notice he didn’t say “faith”. God doesn’t say you die because you lack faith. He says you die because you lack BRAINS.
And it starts with not knowing what the book REALLY says.
And THAT starts by listening to imbeciles that tell you that a book which is a genealogical history book is somehow a good science reference book. It’s not.
Using the Bible for a science book is like using a tuning fork for a hammer. It’s like taking your Porsche into a field to go off-roading and driving your Hummer on the Nurburgring Nordschliffe trying to turn an 8 minute lap. Using the Bible for a science book is like using a cook book for first aid advice. The argument is stupid no matter what your position.
I suggest you READ the Bible instead of listening to imbeciles like this. You’ll notice idiots like this never debate people like me openly. Because they’ll get their you-know-what handed to them.
The author states: In the Old Testament, Israelites often blended pagan beliefs with God’s commands, leading to spiritual destruction. Today, Christians risk making the same mistake by merging naturalistic ideas with Scripture. The consequences are just as serious: a compromised faith and a weakened witness to the truth of God’s Word.
Christianity is pagan complete with pagan rituals, rites, clerical garb, etc., and was created 300 years after the death of Jesus by the Roman Empire! Rome took John’s gospel and made Jesus God – the only book in the bible that makes such a false claim. They took their god Mithra and Mithrahism and fashioned the Christian faith. This is the reason the Lord’s sabbath was changed to Sunday and decided that Jesus was born on the 25th of December to coincide with other ancient sun gods. Yes, Christmas is a pagan ritual no different than the Golden Calf incident when Moses came down from the mountain with two tablets. God didn’t like what he saw then and he doesn’t like what he sees now with millions of Christians with their decorated trees and celebration of sun gods.
Jesus said he would return with the lifetime of his disciples to bring in the new covenant. Jesus said he was sent. Jesus said only God is good. Jesus prayed to God. Jesus cried out to God for forsaking him as he was dying. Jesus said a lot of things that prove he is not God. You Christians are in for a big shock when you croak!
I always thought it was much more devote to believe God created the world the way that science says he did. It’s much more fantastical and awe inspirating to believe life crawled out of the oceans billions of years ago and through the miraculous transformation known as evolution, left humans to rule the world we have today. I believe even general AI, after reaching it’s singularity, will believe in God. It certainly won’t be disregarding the facts. This is why I have faith and high hopes for AI and the futures evolution of our cognitive evolution, which will be happening at an unbelievably fast pace.
No matter how you interpret Genesis 1 it always comes down to God made everything and everybody. Only a handful of scientists care about the details. Normal people are looking for a better life now. A life with hope and meaning and purpose. That’s what Christianity has to promote, not the proper interpretation of Genesis 1.
Ken, don’t be discouraged by the negative responses. They are influenced by demons. They sound very educated and opinionated, just like the Pharisees.
…the Bibles, and similar texts are all fictions masguerading as ‘truth’…organized religions have only one goal: to capture souls and force people to fear a hell that does not exist, and hope for a similar fate with heaven…while filling the treasuries of this parasitic organizations with lots of moolah….
