Once things start getting really crazy in this country, where you live could make all the difference. As global events have accelerated in recent months, a number of people have been seeking my advice about relocation.
Ultimately, there is no solution that is 100 percent perfect for everybody. But there are some general principles that I do believe apply broadly, and I will share some of those principles with you in this article.
First of all, when things finally start hitting the fan you don’t want to be some place that has a high population density.
In particular, you will want to avoid the big cities, and last year we definitely witnessed a mass “exodus” from the largest cities in the country…
Last year the counties that are home to LA, Chicago and New York City suffered the largest exodus of people in the country – while tens of thousands flocked to Arizona, Texas and Florida.
Crime has become a major problem in urban areas from coast to coast, and the level of violence in this nation just continues to rise.
In fact, the mass shooting that just happened in Louisville was already the 146th that we have seen so far this year…
Kentucky is the latest state in America to be shaken by gun violence, as the mass shooting inside a Louisville bank marked the 146th in 2023.
The US reached the grim milestone on Monday of more Mass Shootings than days on Monday, which has already surpassed previous years – following the fatal shooting that left five dead, including the gunman, and eight injured at the Old National Bank.
And theft is completely and utterly out of control in many of our inner cities. It is costing retailers billions upon billions of dollars, and that is one of the biggest reasons why Walmart just decided to shut down four “underperforming” stores in Chicago…
Walmart announced Tuesday it will abruptly close four underperforming Chicago stores, citing millions in annual losses.
The company said its eight Chicago stores collectively have not been profitable since the first opened 17 years ago. This has amounted to a loss of “tens of millions of dollars a year,” according to a press release, losses that have nearly doubled over the last five years.
According to a statement that was put out by Walmart, the losses that those stores have been experiencing have “nearly doubled in just the last five years”…
“The simplest explanation is that collectively our Chicago stores have not been profitable since we opened the first one nearly 17 years ago — these stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years,” Walmart said in a statement.
The problem isn’t that those stores weren’t popular.
The problem is that they were constantly being looted.
In San Francisco, Whole Foods is closing their “flagship store” just a year after it opened…
The Whole Foods Market location in downtown San Francisco is set to close at the end of business Monday, just a year or so after opening in March of 2022, KRON4 has confirmed. Employees at the store will be transferred to other locations nearby.
“To ensure the safety of our Team Members, we have made the difficult decision to close the Trinity store for the time being,” said a Whole Foods Market spokesperson. “All team members will be transferred to one of our nearby locations.”
San Francisco is an ideal location for a Whole Foods store, but “deteriorating street conditions” have forced company officials to make this move…
“Deteriorating street conditions” involving drug use and crime forced the store to close, according to one City Hall official quoted in the report.
The news didn’t shock some journalists and Bay Area residents, who blamed city and state leadership for the city’s growing problems with crime and homelessness.
Sadly, the entire state is rapidly falling to pieces, and that has resulted in California losing approximately half a million people over the past few years…
California’s population fell by 500,000 people between April 2020 and July 2022, Fox News previously reported.
“Sure San Francisco continues to decline rapidly, with Whole Foods closing just a year after opening due to rampant crime & drug dealing after SF lost ~8% of its population from 2020-2022, but hey, at least Gavin Newsom is lecturing Ron DeSantis on how to be a successful governor,” he tweeted sarcastically.
Of course most of my readers are not located in core urban areas.
But those that are living in the suburbs are not safe either.
When economic conditions get bad enough, many of the criminals in the big cities will be coming out to the suburbs to look for easy prey.
With that in mind, I am encouraging people to consider moving away from large metropolitan areas entirely.
If you are considering such a move, I would also avoid anywhere that is experiencing persistent drought. That would include much of the Interior West, although some areas have been blessed with quite a bit of precipitation lately.
Coffee the Christian way: Promised Grounds
I would also keep potential natural disasters in mind when selecting a new destination.
Personally, I would not move anywhere close to the New Madrid fault zone. If you do not understand why, there is an entire chapter in my latest book that explains this. I would also avoid both coasts.
The west coast is way overdue for a major seismic event. Scientists assure us that it is just a matter of time before “the Big One” strikes, and you don’t want to be anywhere around when that happens.
On the east coast, there is the potential for a giant tsunami to completely wipe out our major cities. In particular, the terrain of Florida is extremely flat and so there would be very little resistance if a giant tsunami were to start ripping across the state.
And unless you want to die a very quick death once a nuclear war starts, I would highly recommend not living near a military base or a nuclear missile silo.
Once you account for all of the factors that I have mentioned in this article, that doesn’t leave a whole lot of areas to choose from.
And the real estate in such highly desirable areas has become quite expensive. But the longer you wait, the more difficult it is going to become to relocate.
Global events are starting to spiral out of control, and I fully expect that they will accelerate even more during the months ahead.

Independent Journalism Is Dying
Ever since President Trump’s miraculous victory, we’ve heard an incessant drumbeat about how legacy media is dying. This is true. The people have awakened to the reality that they’re being lied to by the self-proclaimed “Arbiters of Truth” for the sake of political expediency, corporate self-protection, and globalist ambitions.
But even as independent journalism rises to fill the void left by legacy media, there is still a huge challenge. Those at the top of independent media like Joe Rogan, Dan Bongino, and Tucker Carlson are thriving and rightly so. They have earned their audience and the financial rewards that come from it. They’ve taken risks and worked hard to get to where they are.
For “the rest of us,” legacy media and their proxies are making it exceptionally difficult to survive, let alone thrive. They still have a stranglehold over the “fact checkers” who have a dramatic impact on readership and viewership. YouTube, Facebook, and Google still stifle us. The freer speech platforms like Rumble and 𝕏 can only reward so many of their popular content creators. For independent journalists on the outside looking in, our only recourse is to rely on affiliates and sponsors.
But even as it seems nearly impossible to make a living, there are blessings that should not be disregarded. By highlighting strong sponsors who share our America First worldview, we have been able to make lifelong connections and even a bit of revenue to help us along. This is why we enjoy symbiotic relationships with companies like MyPillow, Jase Medical, and Promised Grounds. We help them with our recommendations and they reward us with money when our audience buys from them.
The same can be said about our preparedness sponsor, Prepper All-Naturals. Their long-term storage beef has a 25-year shelf life and is made with one ingredient: All-American Beef.
Even our faith-driven precious metals sponsor helps us tremendously while also helping Americans protect their life’s savings. We are blessed to work with them.
Independent media is the future. In many ways, that future is already here. While the phrase, “the more the merrier,” does not apply to this business because there are still some bad actors in the independent media field, there are many great ones that do not get nearly enough attention. We hope to change that one content creator at a time.
Thank you and God Bless,
JD Rucker
Doom porn!
We’re all going to die!
Sooner or later.
Denial of reality is no way to go thru life.
You voted for Obiden and got the clot shot, didn’t you?🤔
You know he-she 😉 did.
And what was written that was not the truth? When did relocating become a bad thing? What is wrong with trying to improve your situation?
We have a high influx of Cali folks moving to my red state. Fortunately, most are staying in the “richer” zip codes. But you can see first hand what’s happening to those areas already. I also knew when I bought my house in a nice, quiet, rural setting about an hour from a major city, I’d have about 10 years before that cr*(p started moving in here. And I called that, been here 13 years now, and I see the demographics changing, crime increasing as well as the types of crimes, subdivisions going up. I’ll bide my time another year or so, assuming we have that much, and I’ll take the money and run somewhere quiet and rural and start over. Point being, I have no problems with folks wanting to relocate to improve. But the problem is, as stated over and over, they bring their cr*;ppy mentality with them that got them in their situation at previous location. Or they bring their cr*;ppy relatives and friends with them to commit the same crimes and such. They’re fleeing, but bringing the same nonsense with them. And THAT is a problem.
not doom porn. Scripture. If you know Christ none of this is doom or gloom. This is the fulfillment of prophecy. If you are not a Christian yet it’s not too late. But if you don’t see the correlation to scripture and what is going on you likely are not an “actual” Christian.
If marauding hordes don’t get you, nukes, tsunamis, and earthquakes will.
I’m not sure there is anywhere civilized one can hide out when the SHTF.
Every time I read Revelation, and it talks about Babylon the Great, and the city that all the world traded with gets destroyed and the ships sit far off and wonder how it came to be, I keep thinking that it is referring to the US. And He says, “Come out of her”. So in my mind, I keep thinking God is telling us to get out of the US before she is destroyed. Who can argue that she has turned against God and is becoming more evil by the day, because we have been overrun by anti-Christs and communists? No country, other than Israel, has a bigger target on it’s back. Take out the US, and the rest of the world is fair game and easy pickings.
I don’t think The USA is not Babylon the Great. In fact the USA plays no part in prophecy or scripture so it’s likely we will be a third world country or at best a neutered socialist hellhole. But we will not be a big factor in shaping anything that happens.
The author of Revelation used “Babylon” as an allegory to Rome, the world’s most corrupt city at the time. Now the “mother of harlots and Earth’s abominations” is Washington, DC. After the inevitable breakup of the US, Revelation18 will be fulfilled there (though * hope it is simply abandoned, rather than burned).
Actually, John used Babylon as a name for all the empires that had ever ruled over Israel – Babylon, Persian, Greek Hellenistic, Roman, Muslim Empire (Ottoman Empire) until 1948 and the Muslim Empire again in the near future under the Anti-Christ.
SPOT ON BOB!
The USA is the collective entity of the wicked עֵשָׂו . . . in English, Esau. America has been given the chance to choose between him and his holy twin יַעַקֹב, Jacob.
Mystery Babylon is not a reference to the US or to actual Babylon. The angel tells John that it is a city which is in the desert but also next to the sea. It will be destroyed by the Anti-Christ – apparently with a nuclear weapon. It is my belief that this city currently doesn’t exist. I believe it is the city that the Saudi Crown Prince is planning to build along the Red Sea coast north of Mecca. The description of his vision for the city matches John’s description of the city in Revelation very well.
Strategic Relocation by Joel Skousen
Yep, bought Strategic Relocation by Joel Skousen 25 years ago. Not sure about this guy, Michael Snyder. He talks about being a Christian and all, but ALL he sells is fear porn. Same with J.D. Rucker. Every article is designed to scare the crap out of you so you will click on their links to buy gold, or MRE’s or whatever else they are hawking on their websites. Often, these articles are posted later at night, in the still of the night, when people are up late and worried because there’s not much you can do in the middle of the night (other than click on links and make potential bad investments/decisions, I suppose).
Generally speaking, the advice about getting out of cities, diversifying investments, being prepared and such isn’t bad advice. Doing it out of fear and impulsively most likely is, and that is why I don’t care for either of these two hucksters, because they prey on people that are anxious and in fear. But if these are the end times, didn’t Christ say not to worry ourselves with these things? Didn’t Christ tell us to have faith and not to worry about the flesh?
Couldn’t agree more. When TSHTF, what are you going to do with a $2,000 gold piece-ask for change when you buy a loaf of bread?
LOL. Exactly. And they’ll charge you half the bar to make change.
You buy your gold and silver in 3.25 oz sheets that have serrated edges whereupon one can snap off a smaller “denonmination” they’re called Valcambi CombiBars.
lots of duh information….useless article…and completely jumped the shark with giant killer tsunamis
I’m at about 100 foot elevation in North-Central Florida. Maybe if an asteroid hits the Atlantic or Russia uses one of it’s nuclear torpedoes on us, I’d be in trouble. But seriously, if that happens, I think things are going to turn to absolute crap NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE! You are talking about such a devastating event that the impacts are going to be felt nationwide. And if you are going to play that game, WHERE is “safe”? The author doesn’t say. Because all he cares about is getting you to buy gold or whatever else he’s hawking from “his” guy so that he can get his kickback. OK, Michael, WHERE do YOU live?
I’ll battle it out right here in Brookly.
146 Mass shootings in three and a half months?? BS. According to who – Biden? AOC?
People have a tendency to romanticize things. I actually moved TO the Bay Area from the ranches in the middle of nowhere and I can offer a little insight.
Before you decide what to do with your life and the lives of your family, consider a few things.
1. When the gas dries up, you’ll probably die if you’re way out there. Either of slow starvation and thirst or while trying to hike your first-world self to the nearest city where you can glean for supplies.
I know, you think you can hunt and skin and grow and pump all you need. Fine.
2. Do you have seed?
3. Do you have horses/mules, or even or any knowledge of animal husbandry whatsoever?
4. Do you have all the tools and know how to maintenance those tools?
5. Do you have rifles and ’bout $5k worth of ammunition? Cleaning kit, etc.
6. Can you even afford it? Getting established out there isn’t cheap.
7. Can you still work and maintain your lifestyle out there while waiting for the big one to hit?
8. Even today when it’s safe, there is a code out there but there is no timely help from law enforcement, and everyone there knows it. You’re on your own.
This list can go on for quite a while.
Here in the Bay Area we’re right next to all the major ports. The majority of the people are druggies, morbidly obese, drunkards, uneducated, low IQ, etc. I’ll wager most of the illegals will hightail it back to Mexico and South America.
Buy a cheap piece of land in an area where you think would be a good bug-out. Throw a Graceland or a camper on it. Stash about 40 gallons of gas and whatever you “think” you’re going to need. Let it be your backup. You can use it on the weekends to kinda ween yourself into actually being out there.
Anyway, have fun. Love God. Live a good life. Be smart. Stay safe.
As for gun control, Democrats have gotten almost everything they wanted, but it has taken 50 years. For example, there used to be a 5 day waiting period. That went to a 3 day background check. Now we have instant background checks. The assault weapons ban, based on visible characteristics of the weapon, was in effect for 10 years. Included were magazine restrictions, limiting magazines to a specific number of rounds. Magazines limits came with the added benefit of a reminder, “Grandpa only needed 3 rounds in deer season.” That worked until people realized, the Second Amendment didn’t mention hunting. And, 50 years ago, the South was not overrun by feral hogs. No one I know can out run a 300 pound pig. The only person I’ve ever seen kill a feral hog, without a gun, was Sylvester Stallone.
I would love for one of these gun control nuts to come spend the night on my property outdoors without a gun. If the feral hogs didn’t get them, it might be the cougars, coyotes, foxes, bobcats or wolves. Good luck with that. But then again, I am much more concerned with the humans in this country who have gotten used to the government paying for everything in their lives. When the government runs out of money, where do you suppose those humans are going to go looking for their next handout? Your house.
This is my 1st foray into your articles, I will look for your nvext one.
If you have 2 things, you are off to a good start. They are, 1. Rural. Fewer mouth to fight against and feed. And 2. Fresh water. People need water to live and so do crops and animals. Running water is better. Falling water is best. Falling water can be harnessed for mechanical and electrical energy and turn survival into living. 10 to 50 KW generators are affordable and will last for enough years for civilization to pick itself up and dust itself off and do better next time.
Life in ameriKa will always be the same…easy living. Normalcy bias is a killa. We left DFW for the Appalachians.
I question the validity of the statement that there have been 146 mass shootings so far in 2023. Based on what evidence is this claim made and repeated? If an article is going to contain factual, not scare tactic, information, it should cite a credible source and put it in context. .Where were these 146 mass events? By whom were they committed?
Lastly I would say that stating a position on an article such as this is paramount to understanding the point of view of the author. Just because an article is reprinted on a right leaning web site doesn’t mean that the intent was friendly to the right. Could be deliberate misleading.
Dates, sources, position statements should accompany articles if they are to provide factual basis for people to form accurate opinions and to take appropriate actions.
Oh! and have a nice day! 😁
Where do I want to be ?
Well I’ll tell you where only the quickly dead people will be : in any city with a population greater than 10,000 people.
If in a ‘ Blue ‘ State anywhere within 20 miles of any city over 100,000 people.
On any piece of land that is within sight of any major Highway system or highly traveled rural route ( such as Route 20 or US 19 ) regardless of that property’s geographical location.
In an area presently experiencing a drought of over five years in length ( unless you’ve a extreme deep well w/ artesian flow ).
On any rural or city land if you are unprepared .
I constantly regret not living in an Amish community.
