Hideous Florida Democrat Mocks Charlie Kirk’s Christian Faith

by Local News

  • Why People With High Credit Scores Are Locking in These 0% Interest Credit Card Offers

(Discern Report)—The news of Charlie Kirk’s assassination hit like a thunderclap, leaving conservatives across the country reeling from the loss of a tireless voice for young people and American principles. But amid the grief, one Florida Democrat decided to pour salt in the wound with a Facebook post that twisted holy scripture into a sneer at Kirk’s devout beliefs.

Steve Cody, a councilman from Palmetto Bay, fired off his message on his personal page just as reports of the shooting surfaced. He paired a Kirk quote championing Second Amendment protections with his own venomous addition: “Charlie Kirk is a fitting sacrifice to our Lords: Smith and Wesson. Hallowed be their names.”

Those last words rip straight from the Lord’s Prayer, a cornerstone of Christian devotion that millions recite in moments of reverence. Cody’s version swaps out pleas to the Almighty for a mocking tribute to gun makers, framing Kirk’s brutal death—a single shot to the neck during a civil debate at Utah Valley University—as some twisted ritual payoff for political stances on self-defense. It’s the kind of rhetoric that doesn’t just attack a man’s ideas; it spits on the faith that guided him through years of building Turning Point USA and rallying the next generation against campus radicalism.

Kirk wasn’t hiding his convictions on that fateful Wednesday. He was in the thick of a tour to bridge divides on college grounds, urging students to question him openly and restore real dialogue in a fractured nation. The 31-year-old, who often wove his Christian worldview into talks on everything from border security to free speech, crediting divine intervention for saving President Trump last year in a widely shared video. Now, with the FBI dangling a $100,000 reward for tips on his killer, Cody’s post stands as a raw reminder of how quickly some turn tragedy into tribal score-settling.

The backlash was swift. Cody scrubbed the post after it drew fire, but screenshots had already spread like wildfire through Florida outlets. By Thursday evening, he surfaced with a public letter on his page, headlined simply: “I screwed up.”

In it, he tried to walk it back: “Yesterday, I regrettably made a significant error in judgment by sharing a quotation on my personal Facebook page that referenced remarks made by the deceased Charlie Kirk. This action, born out of my deep anger and frustration with the now too common tragedy of gun violence, was misguided. I want to state unequivocally that this post did not and does not reflect my personal values, my deeply held beliefs, or my solemn responsibilities as an elected official. To the Kirk family, my sincere condolences during this difficult time, and my apologies for any statements I made that caused you further distress.”

AMAZING coffee from a Christian company: Promised Grounds tastes incredible, is ethically sourced, and proceeds go to missionary work. Drink faithfully!

That admission of fault lands flat when you consider the deliberate sacrilege baked into the original words. Cody didn’t stumble into parodying a prayer; he crafted it to score points in the endless gun debate, using Kirk’s fresh blood as the ink. His profile picture—an AI-generated shot of Trump berating a taco—only adds to the sense of a man more at home in memes than meaningful public service. Apologies from folks like this often read like damage control, especially when the delete button comes before the delete key on their conscience.

Florida Republicans wasted no time piling on. U.S. Rep. Carlos Gimenez, the district’s congressman and a former Miami-Dade mayor who once battled fires as a first responder, didn’t mince words: “Absolutely mortified by Palmetto Bay councilman Steve Cody’s mocking of Charlie Kirk’s death in real time. This is unbecoming of any elected official. Steve Cody must resign.”

Gimenez’s call carries weight in a state where trust in leaders is hard-won; he’s seen enough real crises to know that elected voices should heal divides, not hack them wider with blasphemy.

Echoing that demand was Rep. María Elvira Salazar, another Miami-area heavyweight: “How disgusting for Steve Cody, an elected official, to not only celebrate news of Charlie Kirk’s assasination, but also, sacrilegiously smear the name of an American Patriot who was passionate about his faith in the one true lord, Jesus Christ. Charlie wanted his legacy to be courage for his faith. People like Cody betray the trust of the very community they represent.”

Salazar nails the deeper cut here—Kirk’s life was a testament to bold witness, from his post-Trump rally reflections on providence to his unapologetic stands on biblical truths amid cultural storms. To cheapen that with altar talk isn’t just tasteless; it’s a betrayal of the pluralism that lets faiths like his thrive in public squares.

The outrage spilled onto X, where Ryan Fournier, national chairman of Students for Trump, lit a fuse with a viral plea: “PLEASE HELP ME expose Florida Democrat and Palmetto Bay Council Member Steve Cody. This pathetic slob went on Facebook to celebrate Charlie Kirk’s death, sneering that the assassination was a ‘fitting sacrifice.’ SHARE FAR AND WIDE.”

Fournier’s post racked up thousands of shares, turning Cody into a lightning rod for conservatives still processing Kirk’s absence. Others joined the chorus, like the Mostly Peaceful Latinas podcast account updating followers: “Update 🚨 Miami democrat and council member Steve Cody refuses to resign and has apologized for his misguided post. We all know you’re only sorry you got caught. We demand you RESIGN or the governor has to step in and REMOVE you.”

Calls even reached Gov. Ron DeSantis directly, with users tagging him to boot Cody from office.

As the suspect hunt drags on, this episode exposes the rot in some corners of politics: a rush to gloat over graves, all while cloaking it in policy gripes. Kirk deserved better—from the shooter, from the system, and especially from those sworn to serve with decency. Whether Cody steps down or clings to his seat, his words will linger as a stain on Florida’s body politic, a crude echo in the prayers now rising for a fallen fighter.

Three Reasons a Coffee Gift Set From This Christian Company Is Perfect for Christmas

Promised Grounds Gift Pack

When you’re searching for a Christmas gift that’s meaningful, useful, and rooted in faith, you don’t want to settle for anything generic. This season is filled with noise — mass-produced products, last-minute picks, and trends that fade as quickly as they appear. But one gift stands apart because it blends genuine quality with a message that matters: a coffee gift set from Promised Grounds Coffee.

This small Christian-owned company has become a favorite among believers who want to support faith-driven businesses while giving friends and family something they’ll actually enjoy. Here are three reasons a Promised Grounds Coffee gift set may be the most thoughtful and impactful present you give this year.

1. It’s Truly Delicious Coffee

Too many “gift-worthy” coffees look beautiful in the package but disappoint when the cup is poured. Promised Grounds takes the opposite approach — exceptional taste first, thoughtful presentation second.

Their beans are sourced with care, roasted in small batches, and crafted to bring out a rich, smooth flavor profile that appeals to both casual drinkers and true coffee lovers. Whether someone enjoys bold, dark roasts or lighter, more delicate blends, every sip reflects quality that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the biggest specialty brands.

Simply put: this coffee is good. Really good. Some say it’s absolutely fantastic. If you want a gift that won’t be re-gifted, ignored, or shoved in a cabinet, this is it.

2. It Spreads the Word While Serving a Real Purpose

There are many Christian gifts that are meaningful… but not exactly practical. There are also useful gifts that have nothing to do with faith. Promised Grounds Coffee bridges both worlds beautifully.

Each gift set delivers an encouraging, faith-centered message through its packaging and presentation — a simple but powerful reminder of God’s goodness during the Christmas season. The cups are especially popular and serve as a daily reminder of the blessings from our Lord. At the same time, the product itself is something people will actually use and appreciate every single day.

It’s a gift that uplifts the spirit and fills the mug. A gift that points loved ones toward Scripture while still being part of the normal rhythm of life. And in a culture that increasingly pushes faith to the margins, giving a gift that quietly but confidently honors Christ can make a deeper impact than you might expect.

3. It’s Affordable, Valuable, and Elegantly Presented

Many people want to give something meaningful without breaking their Christmas budget. Promised Grounds Coffee strikes that perfect balance — the sets look and feel premium, but the price remains accessible.

The packaging is classy, clean, and gift-ready, making it ideal for:

  • Family members of all ages
  • Co-workers or employees
  • Church friends or small-group leaders
  • Hosts, neighbors, and last-minute gift needs

It’s the kind of gift that feels more expensive than it is — and more thoughtful than most of what you’ll find on store shelves.

The Perfect Blend of Faith, Flavor, and Christmas Cheer

A coffee gift set from Promised Grounds Coffee checks every box: a gift that tastes amazing, conveys your faith, supports a Christian business, and brings daily enjoyment to the person who receives it. In a season when so many gifts are forgotten, this one stands out for all the right reasons.

If you want a Christmas present that reflects your values and delivers genuine joy, Promised Grounds Coffee is the perfect place to start.
