Trump Gets Blunt About Greenland Ahead of Vance and Rubio’s Big Meeting

by Steve Warren

President Donald Trump made his position crystal clear on Truth Social early this morning, declaring that the United States must gain control of Greenland to safeguard national security interests.

“The United States needs Greenland,” he wrote, adding that “anything less than that is unacceptable.” He went further, warning that without U.S. oversight, adversaries like Russia or China could swoop in, stating, “IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!”

This comes just hours before critical discussions at the White House, where Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are set to meet with Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt.

The push for Greenland isn’t new for Trump, who first floated the idea during his initial term, but the stakes feel higher now with Arctic resources and military positioning in play. Greenland’s vast mineral wealth and strategic location make it a prime target for global powers eyeing dominance in the region. Trump emphasized that incorporating Greenland would strengthen NATO, noting, “Militarily, without the vast power of the United States… NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES.”

Yet, Denmark and Greenland have pushed back hard, with Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen asserting at a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen: “If we have to choose between the United States and Denmark here and now, we choose Denmark. We choose NATO. We choose the Kingdom of Denmark. We choose the EU.”

White House officials have echoed Trump’s resolve. Spokesperson Anna Kelly described Greenland as “a strategically important location that is critical from the standpoint of national security,” suggesting that American control would offer better protection against threats in the Arctic. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt didn’t shy away from tougher options, saying last week that “utilizing the US military is always an option.”

Trump himself has been blunt, telling reporters aboard Air Force One, “One way or the other, we’re going to have Greenland.” This boldness has stirred unease among allies, but it aligns with a broader strategy to counter expanding influence from Beijing and Moscow, who have ramped up Arctic activities in recent years.

Denmark’s response has included military moves, with reports from Danish media indicating a deployment of advance troops and equipment to Greenland in preparation for potential escalations. This comes as no surprise given the island’s history under Danish sovereignty for centuries, though the U.S. already maintains a military base there under existing agreements.

America First Healthcare - American Dream

Greenland officials remain adamant against any takeover, with Nielsen declaring, “Greenland does not want to be owned by the United States. Greenland does not want to be governed by the United States. Greenland does not want to be part of the United States.” Their office has urged NATO to step in and defend against any aggressive moves.

Back in Washington, not everyone is on board with Trump’s approach. A bipartisan group of U.S. senators, including Democrat Chris Coons and Republican Thom Tillis, introduced a bill to block funding for any occupation or annexation of Greenland. This legislative push highlights divisions even within American politics, with some viewing the president’s tactics as reckless. A delegation of these lawmakers is scheduled to visit Denmark on Friday for further talks, aiming to ease tensions. Meanwhile, analysts point out the “conundrum” this creates for Denmark and Greenland, caught between alliance loyalties and sovereignty concerns.

Some observers speculate that Denmark’s firm stance might stem from deeper EU influences, where globalist agendas prioritize collective control over decisive action against real threats like Chinese expansion. After all, Beijing has invested heavily in Arctic infrastructure, and whispers of backdoor deals can’t be ignored in a world where economic ties often mask strategic grabs. Trump’s insistence cuts through that fog, prioritizing American strength to protect not just U.S. interests but the free world’s edge in a volatile region.

As the Greenland meeting unfolds, the outcome could reshape alliances and Arctic geopolitics. Trump has made it plain he won’t back down, and with military options on the table, the pressure is on Denmark and Greenland to reconsider. Whether through negotiation or firmer measures, securing this territory might be the key to thwarting larger dangers lurking in the north.

Trump understands chess even though he cant play it. He see’s China and Russia slowly moving their assets as close to us as possible, or moving closer to the the Queen. Cuba, Greenland and parts of Venzuala are great places for missile launchers.
The dims dont care, welfare and getting votes is all they care about and giving out freebies. All the time are adversaries are moving in on us and making strategic moves.
Buying Greenland would be a brilliant move and tacktic to control the Mediterain and protect an attack from the Artic Circle.
Only idiots would fail to see how important this land is for whomever controls it.

To refer to Coons and Tillis as a bi-partisan group is a misleading statement, or better yet, a bald face lie. Tillis is a closet Democrat who falsely claims to be a Republican. He’s the ultimate RINO. Coons is a far left Democrat who poses as a moderate. He loves TV appearances on Fox News Sunday to spout his ever ending deceptions to Shannon Bream. He’s also buddies with Sen. John Cornyn, who is Texas’ RINO.

Why are 350 million Americans paying to protect 750 million Europeans?
Because of our treaty, we are obligated to fight a European war. Again, why?
Europe has nuclear weapons, military personnel and wealth.
It’s becoming clearer & clearer that they don’t deserve a drop of our blood or a dime of our treasure.

…President Trump is 100%…who is afraid of Denmark ?…who is afraid of NATO without the USA ?…President Trump MUST Prevail over the objections of weaker alliances who will indeed fall prey from China-Russia eventual aggression…Greenland will regret ever denouncing and objecting USA involvement and protection…and as well as Denmark is concerned…they need to concentrate what they do best…bake pastries…

Denmark has done very little for Greenland over the years. They’ve certainly not developed it at all. Take a big check, shut up and move on . Would Greenland prefer to be taken over by Russia, China or the USA?

First of all, I’m usually with Trump all the way, and I understand his (our) concerns about Greenland. But in this case, I feel very uncomfortable with the blustery talk about military intervention being on the table. All it will do is to totally turn off our allies, and also make Russia happy, seeing how Putin’s adversaries (NATO) in Europe are now being slighted by the USA. Just because we had this quick strike in Venezuela, doesn’t mean we should now threaten others (except Iran, because they need to have their asses waxed). So for me, being a retired US Marine Corps veteran, I’m leery about putting the possibility of military force out there. It makes us look like the aggressors.

Imagine, if you will, if China demanded that we let them have Hawaii for their security and that their use of military force could be an option on th table. How would we view this? It would certainly galvanize us.

…Ben, first of all…’Thank You For Your Service !”…I too have served my country many years ago in a different way…The USA has a special place in my heart and the last thing I would ever want is to jeopardize its core intent…’Liberty For All’…but along with that comes the awesome undeniable ‘Truth’…The Tree of Liberty must occasionally be watered by the blood of faithful souls who are willing to give their all for it …I was willing as you and many others over our life time and before…we were lucky…but ‘luck’ alone does not cut it…sometimes someone MUST stick their neck out and ‘Fight…Fight…Fight’ even when it is not popular…President Trump IS such a person…in my 80+ years on this earth he is the most devout and straight-forward person I have seen that ‘will get the job done !’….I support him 100% (and if need be, take a bullet for him)…I doubt seriously I will ever meet this man, but when he says something one thing I believe is that he has taken the time to look at the problem from every view point before he opens his mouth…I ‘TRUST’ him…and I don’t ‘trust’ too many people…especially in content of the security of American Values, History and Heritage…just my 2 cents worth…

We are already totally tuned off by our fake NATO allies and their desire for WW3.

The USA is not slighting Europe. MAGA people do not care about the EU-Putin feud, which NATO caused, not Russia.

Oh I see, it is OK if we bomb Iran, to please your zionist friends, though the USA has no threat from Iran, but we do have a threat from Red China in Greenland.

Imagine if you would apply a consistent set of principles in your opinions.

China is doing to Taiwan what we are doing to Greenland. What did we do about that? We threatened to intervene with Taiwan if China invaded. I think Trump has gone about this totally wrong and I don’t know if he can undo what he he has done.

It’s clear that the EU, Russia, China, Islamists, and bad actors of all strips would prefer Russia and/or China to control Greenland. I agree with Pres. Trump on this. That can’t happen. Are we just going to watch as our security is chipped away until we’re Oakland?

The U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s annual threat assessment in 2025 also detailed Russian and Chinese ambitions in the Arctic, specifically stating that both U.S. foes had specific strategic interests in Greenland. This is public information. There’s endless articles on this, heck even Googles A.I. confirms a Chineses / Russian nexus taking Greenland is goal. So it doesnt matter what leftist politicians say, even in Denmark – all intelligence reports contradict their statements.

Let’s see. So many of you believe that Denmark and or the EU might be able to stop the Chinese or Russians from taking Greenland. How illogical. Neither Denmark nor the EU have the military capability to stop the Chinese or Russians. Only the United States can prevent this. This is reality. So many of you don’t live in reality. Your arguments are faceless and offer no solution. Why didn’t any of you or your political parties save the people of Venezuela? Why? All you do is complain against Trump and offer zero solutions. All you are is a group against Trump at any cost. The Esperanza Prophesy was very clear about the United States and TRUMP. Look it up, however, most of you are godless!

When the head of Denmark and the Leader in Greenland show up, then you may have something of importance.
If the Greenlanders were smart they would all ask for one millions dollars and a piece of the mining operations, job etc. They could have it all but the bottom line they know who is in the drivers seat and not sure who all the purchasers may be down the road.

Just offer to buy the northern half. That way everybody’s happy. AFAIK, nobody lives in the northern half, aside from a few facilities such as Thule air base. It’s nothing but ice. And that’s the part needed for defense.

As far as mining goes, there are already US mining operations in Greenland. It is rich in resources, but because of the ice and very short summer working season, it costs too much to mine pretty much anywhere but the southern coast.

Has anyone considered that the whole Greenland takeover ploy could have a lot more to do with the EU and NATO than it does just taking over Greenland. When was the last time any of these EU morons have ever deployed any troops in a meaningful way. What is their defense budget, $50.00? This could all be a means by which to show how the EU is a gerbil in a tiger costume. That their push to involve the US in the Russia/Ukraine conflict was a globalist plot and that without the US the globalists fail and fail miserably. This could be Trump’s means by which to extract us from the Globalist crap, end the non-existent NATO group that was merely the US defending the EU, and secure our northern exposure from Russia and China by taking Greenland.

Greenland is going to be either the USA or the CCP’s territory or via treaty.

    Choose your sides wisely.

The Chinese have already staked claim for Greenland… by what they do best…… “silent stealth coercion” of our so called NATO allies. Our NATO allies are openly, actively, repeatedly working to undermine US interest.

    This is Fact!
